Tap your creative skills and learn how to make unique and personal artists' books. This course is perfect for new and repeat students interested in exploring the rich tradition of bookmaking from cover to cover. Instruction covers the history of bookmaking, making paste paper for unique one of a kind books. Spend the weekend learning the fundamentals of bookmaking using a variety of techniques including folded and sewn structures. You will learn basic folding and gluing techniques, how to cover boards, basic bookbinding terms, follow folding diagrams, and learn about key tools to include in a basic bookbinding toolkit. Multiple structures to build on at home will be covered throughout the weekend. Along with paste paper you will make an accordion book, a single-sheet book, and a Leather wrapped Journal.
